Kanika Mittal, x Reebok

Interview

Startups, leadership and gender equity

Courage, conviction, passion along with a good business sense to know when to call it quits are a must have for all startups says, Kanika Mittal. A corporate honcho with a keen eye on the entrepreneurial space in India, she ardently promotes community building especially for women entrepreneurs. A leader with expertise in retail marketing, Kanika is passionate about gender equity. Positioning the brand as women centric, she found her expression through the #fittofight campaign for Reebok.

Dealing with the biases that society imposes is never easy but women on the corporate ladder are beginning to acknowledge the stress. Comparing life to a 3 shift work day starting with sending kids to school, clinching business deals and then nurturing the family life back home. Giving up networking evenings is a small price to pay as opposed to their male counter parts shares Kanika through some candid conversations.

The interview was recorded at home, with Kanika, as usual, juggling many things in a day. A morning doctors appointment upset the tight schedule and in a bid to save time she took the metro, hailed an auto and finally reached from Gurgaon to Noida with her driver in her car following suit.

Many women struggle on a daily basis to try to be perfect both at home and at work. Kudos to all those partners and colleagues who share the load and create conducive environments to help us grow together.
