Geetanjali Pandit Gupta
A seasoned HR Professional managing talent in media organizations unfolds a surprising fact about the insecurities of humans that creep into the work place. ‘In my 25 years as an HR Lead, I have seen people don’t want to hire people better than themselves.’ Geetanjali Pandit Gupta author Buddha at work on leadership, success & spirituality #LikeaBoss
The author has been the chief Human Resource officer from the Oberoi group to the India Today group, Indian express, Zee and more. She redefines leadership beyond management of people and considers spirituality another name for success. Geetanjali Pandit Gupta, over the years has become a dear friend and it was indeed a pleasure recording this interaction at her home in Noida.
I interacted with Geetanjali first when she was leading the HR for the Indian express group through my show on Radio. I have seen her transition as a corporate honcho into a loving mother of her 2 girls that she adopted and now as the author of Buddha at work.
Dealing with stressful situations at home, work and life in general resonates with almost all, drawing from the age old spiritual wisdom to deal with this is the genesis of Buddha at work. The publishers were very keen to tap into Geetanjali’s experience through the 21st century and and her idea to interweave it with the wisdom of Buddha some 2500 years ago. Buddha at work is a practical guide for the holistic growth of an individual. Something that Geetanjali herself has benefitted from over the years.
Having said this, spiritual learnings don’t hang as certificates on brightly lit walls. Its a continuous and ardent effort to evolve. The book took its own time to see the face of light despite the publishers being very prompt in commissioning it. Geetanjali battled her own sense of rejection, excuses and lack of motivation to complete the book. There came a time where she scrapped the 85% complete manuscript and started afresh with a new sense of purpose that gets reflected through the sentiments in the book.
My take home? Spirituality and leadership define success as being the best version of my own self. Whats yours?
