Aditya Save, x Marico

Interview

Aditya Save

Our very first interview.

Ashok Chawla, Chairman NSE, Teri & Yes Bank, through the second season’s shoot at the Teri Office

I had decided to take the plunge, redeemed some of my jet privilege miles , lined up a few interactions and just dive deep into the Simply Suparnaa series. I almost missed the flight, left my bag at the security check and finally made my way toboarding. The distraught me through this whole procedure, met the cool and composed Chairman of NSE Ashok Chawla. Serendipity had us bump into each other again on a similar jet flight to Mumbai and we have subsequently shot for the second season of the series with him.

These pleasant coincidences have become a part of my journey.

Veteran actor Vinod Nagpal on the same flight to Mumbai for the shoot of the Brooke Bond ad

Back on the flight to Mumbai before the very first interview, I was also pleasantly surprised to be seated next to the renowned theatre actor, Vinod Nagpal. He looked so much like my father. In fact they were classmates from the same school, Modern Barakhamba. This further invoked in me the feeling of him watching over on this new journey of mine. Vinod jee and I chatted through most of the flight, the only pauses we took were when I tired very hard and at times unsuccessfully, to hold back tears, grieving the absence of my father.

The flight was late and the 2 interactions lined up right after the landing were at threat of being rescheduled in the short trip through maddening streets of Mumbai during Ganesh Chathurthi.

The first interview was right out of the airport at the Taj Santa Cruz in Mumbai. Bhavna hand held my iphone 6s to record and we used her iphone 5 to simultaneously record the audio. As you may notice the video quality isn’t the greatest, there are many audio glitches and the frame would move as Bhavana’s hand got tired. But we canned the first interview. Through the brief interaction I had had with Aditya over the phone and then before that actual ‘shoot’ we got quite a few precious gems on failure and motivation through our very first interview. Aditya is someone I met while curating the very first conference & awards for the Mobile Marketing Association in India. He was one of the most helpful jury members judging mobile marketing campaigns. He went beyond the proverbial call of duty and helped screen many more entries than originally assigned to make up for the lapse of other members. Aditya continues to be as accessible and helpful as I had found him to be the first when we met. A movie buff, he proactively gives feedback on our audio and visuals with every new edit. And a very dedicated encouragement of sharing the content with his network.

We have set sail and what an auspicious time to have done so.

Om Gan Ganpati Namah!
A mantra from Ganapati Upanishad recited before beginning a new journey.
